You may have a long list to present in your slide. The list might overflow into two or more slides, making it difficult for the audience to keep track. It is much easier if the slide displays two or more columns, allowing one slide to hold the entire list.
Another advantage of displaying two columns in one slide is you can highlight important information for comparison. It is easier for the audience to relate to information when they are available side by side.
2 ways to add columns in Google Slides
- Use the Title and Two Columns Layout
- Insert a Table in the Slide
We will show you both methods in simple, step-wise instructions.

Method #1: Create Two Columns Using the Title and Two Columns Layout
This method allows the creation of only two columns in the slide.
Step #1: Open Google Slides
Fire up your favorite browser.
In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.
Click the nine dots to open Google apps.
Scroll to and click the Slides icon.
Google Slides will open.
Step #2: Open a Presentation
Open a new presentation or an existing one.
In this tutorial, we will open a new presentation.
Hover the mouse pointer over the + button in the bottom right corner.
The button will change to two new buttons.
Click the button, Create new presentation.
A new presentation will open.
Step #3: Changeover to Title and Two Columns Layout
Click the Slide tab in the top menu bar.
A drop-down list will appear.
Hover the mouse pointer over the Apply layout icon.
An array of layouts will appear.
Click the layout Title and two columns.
The slide will change to show title and two columns.
Click to add title and text content appropriately.
Method #2: Create Two Columns by Inserting a Table in the Slide
This method allows the creation of two or more columns in a slide.
Step #1: Open Google Slides
Fire up your favorite browser.
Go to the Google home page.
In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.
Click the nine dots to open Google apps.
Scroll to and click the Slides icon.
Google Slides will open.
Step #2: Open a Presentation
Open a new presentation or an existing one.
In this tutorial, we will open a new presentation.
Hover the mouse pointer over the + button in the bottom right corner.
The button will change to two new buttons.
Click the button, Create new presentation.
A new presentation will open.
Click to select the Simple light theme.
Note: You can select any other suitable theme from the menu.
Step #3: Create a New Title
Click the text box, Click to add subtitle, and delete it.
Click the text box, Click to add title to select it.
Move the text box to a suitable position near the top of the slide.
Type in a suitable title.
Step #4: Insert a Table
Click the Insert tab in the top menu bar.
This opens a menu.
Hover the mouse pointer over the Table icon.
An array of cells appears.
Click the second cell from the left in the top row.
Note: You can select any number of cells as per your requirement. For this tutorial, we have selected two cells for making two columns in one row.
Two columns appear below the title in the slide.
Adjust the height of the columns to your requirement.
You now have a two-column slide.
Click and add appropriate text in the two columns.
