How to Make a Flyer Using Google Docs

Google Docs has all the features you need to make a flyer suitable to your requirement. In addition, it provides many templates you can use and modify as necessary.

There are primarily two methods for making a flyer using Google Docs:

  • Using basic features
  • Using templates

Let us walk you through the quick and easy steps you can take to create amazing flyers in Google Docs.


Method #1: Making a Flyer using Basic Features

Step #1: Open Google Docs

Fire up your favorite browser.

Go to the Google home page.

In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.

Click the nine dots to open Google apps.

Scroll to and click the Docs icon.

Google Docs will open a new blank document.

Step #2: Resize the Page

Note: It is advisable to resize the page to a standard paper size before you begin. The countries US and Canada use letter sized papers (8.5 x 11 inches) as standard. International standard is the A4 sized paper (8.27 x 11.69 inches). We will use the A4 size. You can use any size to suit your requirement.

Click the File tab in the top menu bar.

A menu will appear.

Click the Page setup icon.

A Page setup dialog box will open.

Click the Pages tab.

Change Orientation to Landscape.

Change Paper size to A4(8.27” x 11.69”).

Change all Margins to 0.5”.

Click the OK tab for the changes to take effect.

Step #3: Add a Background

Click the Insert tab in the top menu bar.

A menu will open.

Hover the mouse pointer over the Images icon.

A new menu will open to the right.

Click to select the source of the background image.

Note: We click on the Upload from computer icon.

The File Manager will open.

Navigate to the folder where you have the background image.

Select the image and click the Open button.

The image will become the background of the document.

Adjust the position and size of the image using its handles.

Click the icon Behind Text at the bottom of the screen.

Step #4: Add Text

Type in your text.

Adjust the font, size, color, and position as necessary.

Save your flyer in a suitable location.

Your flyer is ready for printing.


Method #2: Making a Flyer Using Templates

Step #1: Open Google Docs

Fire up your favorite browser.

Go to the Google home page.

In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.

Click the nine dots to open Google apps.

Scroll to and click the Docs icon.

Google Docs will open a new blank document.

Step #2: Open the Template Gallery

Click the File tab in the top menu bar.

This will open a menu.

Hover the mouse pointer over the New icon.

A new menu will open to the right.

Click the From Template Gallery icon.

This opens the Template Gallery.

Step #3: Download a Template.

Click a suitable template for your flyer.

The chosen template is now available in the document.

Step #4: Change the Flyer Contents

Change the text in the flyer to suit your requirements.

Adjust the font, size, color, and position as necessary.

Save your flyer in a suitable location.

Your flyer is ready for printing.
