Flyers can help promote an event. If you are creating a flyer that others can edit, try using Google Slides. This is particularly helpful if you are going to be sharing your flyer with others and collaborating on it with peers.
There are two ways you can make a flyer using Google Slides:
- Use Basic Features
- Use a Template
We will walk you through the quick and easy steps you can take to create outstanding flyers.
Let us start.
Method #1: Make a Flyer Using Basic Features
This method uses only basic features and tools to make flyers.
Step #1: Open Google Slides
Fire up your favorite browser.
Go to the Google home page.
In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.
Click the nine dots to open Google apps.
Scroll to and click the Slides icon.
Google Slides will open.
Step #2: Open a Presentation
Open a new presentation or an existing one.
In this tutorial, we will open a new presentation.
Hover the mouse pointer over the + button in the bottom right corner.
The button will change to two new buttons.
Click the button, Create new presentation.
A new presentation slide will open.
Step #3: Clear the Slide
Click the text box, Click to add title.
Delete the text box.
Click the text box, Click to add subtitle.
Delete the text box.
The slide will now be without any text boxes.
Step #4: Resize the Slide
Note: It is advisable to resize the slide to a standard paper size before you begin. The countries US and Canada use letter sized papers (8.5 x 11 inches) as standard. International standard is the A4 sized paper (21 x 29.7 cm). We will use the A4 size. You can use any size to suit your requirement.
Click the File tab in the top menu bar.
A menu will appear.
Click the Page setup icon.
A Page setup dialog box will open.
Click the small triangle beside Widescreen 16:9.
A drop-down menu will appear.
Click the Custom icon.
In the next screen, enter 29.7, 21, and Centimeters respectively.
Click the Apply button at the bottom.
Note: To change the slide to portrait orientation, enter 21, 29.7, and Centimeters.
The slide size will change accordingly.
Step #5: Insert Image
Click the Insert tab in the top menu bar.
A menu will appear.
Hover the mouse pointer over the Image icon.
Another menu will appear on the right.
Click on the source of your image.
For this tutorial, we will click the Upload from computer icon.
The File Manager will open.
Navigate to the folder where you have your image file.
Select the image file, and click the Open button.
The image will appear in the slide.
Resize the image using its handles.
Step #6: Insert Text
Click the Insert tab in the top menu bar.
A menu will appear.
Click the Text box icon.
The cursor will change to a cross.
Position the cross suitably in the slide.
Hold down the mouse button and drag it to an opposite corner.
A text box will appear.
Fill-in with appropriate text.
Position the text appropriately.
Change the font, size, color, and position to suit your flyer.
Your flyer is ready for printing.
Method #2: Make a Flyer Using Templates
This method uses a template to make flyers.
Step #1: Open Google Slides
Fire up your favorite browser.
Go to the Google home page.
In the top right corner, Sign in to your Google accounts using your credentials.
Click the nine dots to open Google apps.
Scroll to and click the Slides icon.
Google Slides will open.
Step #2: Download a Template
Open a new tab in your browser.
In this tutorial, we will select a free template.
Go to SlidesGo — Free Google Slide Templates
Search for a flyer template.
Select a suitable related search and click on it.
Select a suitable template from those available and click on it.
On the right pane, click the Download this template button.
A drop-down menu will appear for attributions required.
Click the Google Slides attribute.
The chosen template will open in Google Slides.
Note: The template may have many slides. Use the one you prefer as your flyer.
Step #3: Annotate your Flyer
Click the various elements on your flyer.
Replace them with your preferred text.
Your flyer may look like this:
Change the font, size, color, and position of the elements to your satisfaction.
